About Car Seat Headrest
Car Seat Headrest is an American indie rock band that originated in Leesburg, Virginia, and is now based in Seattle, Washington. The band is comprised of Will Toledo (vocals, guitar, piano, synthesizers), Ethan Ives (guitar, bass, backing vocals), Seth Dalby (bass), and Andrew Katz (drums, percussion, backing vocals).
The project began in 2010 when Will Toledo started recording music solo. Over the next few years, he released 12 albums on Bandcamp, including notable works like *”Twin Fantasy”* (2011) and *”Monomania”* (2013). These early releases, known for their lo-fi, introspective style, helped Toledo build a dedicated following and establish a distinctive voice in the indie music scene.
In 2015, Car Seat Headrest signed with Matador Records, marking a major turning point in their career. This partnership provided them with greater resources and wider exposure. Their 2016 album *”Teens of Denial”* received critical acclaim for its polished production and deeply personal lyrics, signaling their transition from a solo project to a full-fledged band.
Following their signing, Car Seat Headrest began touring as a complete band in 2017, further expanding their fan base and solidifying their reputation with energetic live performances. Their evolution continued with the 2018 release of *”Twin Fantasy (Face to Face)”*, a re-recording of their earlier album that showcased Toledo’s growth and artistic development.
